This UK charity is solely dedicated to rehoming ex-racing greyhounds which can make wonderful pets for all types of people. The Retired Greyhound Trust (RGT) works closely with a network of dedicated volunteers across the UK, together with the racing industry, to find suitable homes for these ex-racers so they can live out their retirement to the fullest.
“In reality, greyhounds’ personalities are far from the frantic appearance they give when tearing around a racetrack. On the whole, they are calm, affectionate and tend to adapt easily to life as a pet,” explains Director of RGT Ivor Stocker.
The RGT has rehomed a total of almost 35,000 greyhounds, and last year it found homes for 3,500. There are 64 RGT branches based around the UK, from the Isle of Skye to Jersey.
